Friday Reads and being frustrated...
So, I had a review scheduled for today but had to bump it as we've been internet-less for a few days at home. The repair tech just left, and hallelujah!, we've got internet again. It's shameful how badly I need my internetz.
However, I got a good chunk of reading done while repairs were underway. Today's Friday Read is The King's Agent by Donna Russo Morin. Super fun, very dramatic, a little silly, and perfect for my chilly weekend.
What are you reading this weekend?

How stinky to be without internet! I can imagine that you were very frustrated! I hope that your reading goes well this weekend though! I am not sure what I will be reading, but I seem to be looking towards my historical fiction shelf!
ReplyDeleteIt's been quite aggravating! In addition to my usual email checking and book browsing, my actual job has been hampered -- argh! Anyway, all is well now, so I need to shake it off. Thanks for the sympathy. Can't wait to see what you end up picking to read!
DeleteYeah, I get ugly without my Internet access. It's sort of embarrassing!
ReplyDeleteI'll be making some headway on Bridge Of Scarlet Leaves by Kristina McMorris this weekend! Enjoying it so far, but it's huge. Big books have a tendency to intimidate me.
Exactly -- I'd like to say I'm graceful and easily occupied, but no, I just stew and get snappish. Oops!
DeleteCan't wait to see what you think of Bridge of Scarlet Leaves -- it's on my TBR for next week. I know what you mean about those chunky books -- sometimes it can be daunting!
I am okay without internet access unless I have a review to write. I work in front of the computer all day so I am usually okay without it during the week.
ReplyDeleteI am still reading Wish You Were Here by O'Nan. It's really good but I am lingering over it and it's taking me a long time to read. I am also reading The Cat's Table and I must read my book club pick which is The Quickening Maze as the meeting is Thursday. March is sneaking up on me.
Ti, shamefully, I still love my internet, even though I work at a computer too -- I love getting online to check my email and browse books, etc. Anyway, it's shameful, le sigh.
DeleteCan't wait see what you think of The Cat's Table -- I've been dying to read it. Someday, someday...
I go into withdrawals when the Internet goes out :/ I feel so disconnected :( I even called to find out if I would have Internet access while I'm in Ireland...now who's the biggest goober?
ReplyDeleteGoobers of the world, unite! (Is what I say! ;))
DeleteI don't like being without my internet for long either. I don't mind for a day or a little bit more so long as I use the time to read or catch up on movies. More than that I start to get withdrawl symptoms and start planning how I can get to a computer with the internet!
ReplyDeleteI am reading Death at La Fenice by Donna Leon and it's fantastic. I'm also reading Vivaldi's Virgins by Barbara Quick...I', not sure I like this as it's different than I expected. Both books are for the February in Venice Reading Challenge which ends next week.
Enjoy your weekend, Audra!
It's so frustrating when there's no internet - glad you got yours back.
ReplyDeleteI have pledged to finish The Girl Who Played with a Hornet's Nest this weekend-all so that I can pass it along to someone! But I was ready for an escapist read.
ReplyDeleteI'm reading Paul Theroux's Ghost Train to the Eastern Star. I've read another travel book by him and really liked it, and this one is good so far, as well.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of The King's Agent--hope it's great!
--Rayna
Oooh, I read Theroux's Mosquito Coast a badrillion years ago and really enjoyed it -- looking forward to your thoughts on it!
DeleteThe King's Agent is interesting so far!
Broken internet is the worst. I hardly realize how much I rely on it until it's gone! It is super-frustrating. Glad to hear yours is back in action!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear your Internet is back. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm currently trying to make my way through George Orwell's 1984, and it's awesome so far. Good luck with The King's Agent. I'm looking forward to your thoughts on it.
Yay internet!!! I am glad it is back for ya
ReplyDeleteI don't like to be without my Internet for long either. I've gotten too dependent on it just being there. I'm glad to hear The King's Agent is good. I'll be starting it next week I think. I'm going to start The Book of Lost Fragrances tonight. Hope you two are having a good weekend!
