I plan on parking myself at the beach every day this weekend, and my weekend reads reflect my selfish, gluttonous plans! (Why yes, I am terrible at limiting myself and unseen is my e-reader, packed full of additional choices!) Lots of historical fiction with some thrillers, so I might need to round it all out with something fluffy and fun if I can settle on the right title.
What are your weekend reading plans?
What are your weekend reading plans?
The beach is the perfect place to read! I've got a lot going on this weekend so I may not get much reading done.
ReplyDeleteI totally failed with my reading goals -- I had too much fun swimming! :)
DeleteSounds heavenly! And so jealous you have Telegraph Avenue! I must get that one!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid it is wasted on me -- I'm not enjoying it! :/
DeleteSounds like a fabulous weekend! I love e-readers - they allow you to hide how many extra books you are bringing along on a trip :)
ReplyDeleteI'm reading an ARC of Tana French's newest Dublin Murder Squad thriller "Broken Harbor" and I have a thriller set in Saudi Arabia waiting for me at the library: "Finding Nouf" by Zoe Ferraris.
I *adore* my e-reader for that very reason!! I've not yet ready Tana French but need to -- I've heard nothing but amazing things about her -- and I've long had Finding Nouf on my TBR -- will look for your review of it!
DeleteThat sounds amazing. Enjoy! I'm quite curious to hear what you think of Flight from Berlin.
ReplyDeleteSo far, it's provoked heated discussion about whether some of the anti-Hitler attitudes displayed by the Americans is accurate -- my wife argues it was too early for Americans to be aware the realities of Nazi Germany, etc. Otherwise, I'm sort of 'eh' on it.
DeleteI plan on starting Flight from Berlin as well this weekend (are we on the same tours?). First, though, I must finish The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh for my book club on Monday.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your beach weekend!
Probably! :) Can't wait to see what you think of it -- so far, it's middling for me.
DeleteI love the idea of beach reading, but I get distracted by the gorgeous views. I could stare at the ocean all day long.
ReplyDeleteMy plans for today? I have The Bird Saviors on my Kindle which I really need to read so I can get the review posted. It's really good so far though. I packed a crappy lunch so will probably sit outside somewhere and just read and eat.
I did almost zero reading -- I couldn't resist the lure of the ocean!
DeleteI haven't heard of The Bird Saviors -- will look for your review as I always think you find the most interesting books to read!
I am really excited about this weekend because I am joining The Adult Literacy League and am going to learn how to teach someone to read! I am so excited and can hardly wait! In the meantime, I will be continuing to listen to Wolf Hall (which is EXCELLENT in audio) and reading Gone Girl for book club. It is shaping up to be a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteSo fun! I did reading tutoring in high school for younger kids but would love to do adult literacy -- enjoy!! I so need to get Wolf Hall and Gone Girl -- can't wait to see your reviews for both!
DeleteEnjoy your reading at the beach! I'll be at the beach for 4 days, starting tomorrow, and am still trying to decide what my reading will be!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy, Kathleen! I hope you get tons of reading done!
DeleteI cannot wait to see what you think of Flight From Berlin!
ReplyDeleteI toooootally want to read Overseas!!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy reading to you :) I'm looking forward to Overseas. I can't beach read because I'm too busy enjoying the sights and get easily dsitracted. That doesn't stop me from bringing books there though!
ReplyDeleteI totally failed on the reading front -- I brought tons of books but spent much of my time swimming, napping, or eating lobster rolls!
