Weekend reads and more snow?

It seems unlikely that March will go out like a lamb as we're facing some windy, wet days ahead of us!

I wish I'd be snuggled in for long stretches of reading, but the toddler has stopped napping (nooooooooooooooooooooo!) so I'll be playing (and undoubtedly reading!) with him.

Among my many reads at the moment (I'm doing the start-a-bunch-and-see-what-sticks browse/read thing right now) is Winter Tide by Ruthanna Emrys. It's inspired by/set in Lovecraft's world of watery sea gods and I'm deeply excited.

What are you reading this weekend?

  1. I think we're done with winter for good now. Enjoy that sweet toddler while you can!

  2. I think we are only supposed to get rain this weekend, but rain and 40-degree temps is my idea of hell. That damp creeps into your bones, and you can never get warm. Ugh.

    Enjoy your weekend!

  3. It's supposed to rain from tonight through next Friday. Ugh!

Winter Tide looks great (and so does the cover). This weekend I may pick up The Last Painting of Sara de Vos, which I've been hearing good things about.

  4. It's springtime over here on the south coast of England and there are flowers everywhere (the camellias! Never lived in a place with camellias before. Those are large bushes covered with huge pink or white flowers for those of you who live in the cold-winter climes).

I'm reading A Quiet Life in the Country by T E Kinsey as I just finished A Journal of the Plague Year and need some entertainment.

  5. Naptime was always good reading time and for doing other things. It's a bummer when it stops, but then you get to do fun things with them too, so its also a good thing. Catch-22

  6. AUDRA you are killing me with all the awesome-sounding books you are constantly reading! I am actually trying to build a master-list of retellings and reconceptualizings of Lovecraft, so Winter Tide sounds right up my alley.

  7. Mine stopped napping really young. I tried everything to get her back into it, but she wouldn't have it no matter what I tried. I feel for you! Winter Tide sounds really good. I hope you enjoy it!

I hope you have a great week! I'm hoping I will get in more reading than I'm expecting to. We shall see.
