Teaser Tuesday: The Alice Network

My Teaser Tuesday for this week comes from Kate Quinn's marvelous The Alice Network. I'm only a fourth through but I am hardcore in love. There are a handful of badass women who dominate the book, and Quinn's trademark mix of rich detail and delightful one-liners. (Limiting myself to one teaser today was a challenge!)

This quote is from the start of the novel, when our World War I spy Eve gets her first job at a Lille-based restaurant..

Eve could see why the Germans came to dine here. It was a civilized place to relax after a long day of stamping on your conquered populace. (p103)

What are you reading right now? Any teasers to share?

  1. I'm reading The Gypsy Moth Summer by Julia Fierro, I'm about 20% in and there are some really wonderful words.
I'm looking forward to reading The Alice Network.

    1. I'm hearing nothing but good things about The Gypsy Moth Summer -- I need to add it to my TBR.

  2. Oh yes of course I'd want to read. You not doing a giveaway of this one, are you????

    1. I am -- but US only, alas. I'll see if I can figure out an international giveaway somehow because this book is awesome!!

  3. Hallo, Hallo Audra! :)

I haven't seen this title come through my feeds; new on my radar & thankful you broached talking about it as I'm on a war era reading kick lately! I even have some war dramas coming up on my blog in a few short weeks. I positively love the PS series by Wm. Morrow but it's been a few years since I've read their releases. I always aim to swing back into them esp as I want to read the dramas by Ms Robson and also, keep up with the literary gems outside of their Historicals, too!

This subject of exploration interests me - so thank you! Keenly happy to hear this is a strong choice for those of us who love this area of History and the strong female leads we're seeking to find!
