It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?, August 20

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a meme hosted by Kathryn at the Book Date.

I've picked up The Strange Case of the Alchemist's Daughter again, after ignoring it so I could finish Mishell Baker's Arcadia Project trilogy. Then I wallowed for a while in a book hangover.

As usual, I've got about eight books in various states of read-ness -- this one, which I'm about halfway through -- and Whereas, a slim volume of poetry that I am working through very, very slowly. (It is intense.) The rest are my throwing-spaghetti-at-the-wall-to-see-what-sticks attempts and frankly, I'm not grabbed.

It doesn't help that a wicked summer cold swept through the house this weekend, leaving all of us exhausted and snotty. I've made good progress on my knitting project, however!

What are you reading today?

  1. I'm a one book at a time reader. I can't keep plots straight if I jump around. I hope you find something that really grabs you this week. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  2. I just heard of the Strange Case of the Alchemist's Daughter the other day and requested it from the library. Are you enjoying it?
I loved the first two Arcadia Project books but just couldn't get through the third one. Not sure why.

  3. Wow, 8 books? I struggle with 2 at a time. I usually end up neglecting one to read the other. I hope you enjoy them all. Have a great week!

  4. Hallo, hallo Audra!

I am wicked happy to report since I read about your readings of this novel, I found the *audiobook!* is avail from Scribd! :) I'm switching scripts from Audible to Scribd this month - wells, technically I'm in the free trial period for the latter - then, of course I'll make it official by renewing! What helped me make the choice to switch is a new blogger mate of mine encouraged me to try it out - we both have tight budgets and for me right now - I love the flexibility of being able to listen to an unlim amount of stories vs trying to sort out which singular audiobook I want to purchase each month. The stress that used to cause me is incred!

I am going to slate to start listening to this in October - as I'm assembling what I want to hear/read for #HorrorOctober, PERIL XIII (Sept) and I want to extend my Suspense/Thriller/Cosy Horror reads into November as well. This feels brilliantly atmospheric.. so I look forward to it!

Tonight I'm digging into "The Preacher's Promise" - book one of the Mitford College series - having already ILL'd the prequel head of this one by Piper Huguley *and!* The Bloody Jack Flag (A Spider John Mystery) by Steve Goble (#piratefiction - think Cap't Jack Sparrow *swoon!) (at least I hope it tracks this way!?).

Hope you have a lovely week lost in the stories which are capturing your heart!

  5. I also usually have 8 to 10 books at various states of read-ness as you put it. My weekly updates
